I enjoy creating playful compositions from everyday observation of objects and places. Vessels, jugs and pots flowers, windows and views from inside to outside are favourite and recurrent themes. Bird forms, for me a symbol of the creative spirit, also inhabit my imagination and my work. Strong design and expressive colour, simplification and decorative reorganisation of the facts are all used to explore these subjects.
Since 1997 Bella has lived and worked in Dumfriesshire in Southern Scotland. Her home and studio are now in Lockerbie. She was born and brought up in Glasgow. After school, she followed her family south and did a two year Foundation Course at Harrow School of Art. She also has a BA(Hons) in Fine Art Painting from Norwich School of Art and an ATD from Leicester University
