A continuation of a series of small and larger scale paintings related to the tanker/frigate image. Using on-site drawings of urban seascapes and occasional references to figuration.
I am amazed, in awe and delighted to witness the changing lights, depths and colours of the North Sea which lash onto my everyday walks; similarly delighted is my collie dog who pummels a furious trail down the sand towards any winged creature spotted on the distant horizon.
These vastly changing environments make working outside extremely challenging, and I am hugely indebted to the wonderful seascapes of Joan Eardley and her utter commitment in overcoming and embracing working en plein air in Scotland.
Jacqueline Higgs was recently awarded The Lyth Arts Centre Exhibition Prize at The Scottish Society of Artists Annual Exhibition 2014.
