Javier Ventura is a painter and illustrator from the coast of southern Andalusia in Spain – he is now living and working in Portobello, Edinburgh. Ventura studied at the School of Fine Art, University of Seville, specialising in graphic design. In 2001 he completed a Masters in Info-graphics in Audiovisual Media. He exhibited regularly across Andalusia between 1987 and 2011 whilst continuing to teach. Ventura’s painting is closely linked to the sea and light and plays between symbolism and surrealism – he has worked through several styles, looking to express peoples wishes in created places where they feel comfortable.
Recently settled in Edinburgh, he is seeking new horizons and finds himself evolving a new creative pallet inspired by his surroundings and Scottish influences of light, sea and place.
