Pamela lives in Edinburgh and has been painting for most of her life.
She studied painting and drawing at summer schools and classes at Glasgow School of Art, Strathclyde University and The House for An Art Lover, Glasgow before embracing an opportunity to retire early so that she could fulfil her ambition to work as an artist.
She now exhibits work on a regular basis and has work in private collections across the UK as well as in Los Angeles, Brussels and New Zealand.
Pamela works mainly with acrylic paints but often uses collage and mixed media. A particular feature of her work is the use of metallic inks and paints to create points of interest.
Her expressive and colourful floral paintings are inspired by a passion for flower gardens. Highly detailed and semi abstract, these works are full of movement and energy. Each work begins with pouring and splashing watery paint onto canvas or paper to create interesting shapes that are then worked up into fantastical flowers.
Pamela’s collage landscapes are an exploration of shape, colour and texture beginning with mark making on paper that is ripped into random shapes and used as the basis of a composition. More medium is then added to create depth, direction and detail within the piece. Theses colourful works are inspired by her love of rolling landscapes and a fascination with marks and patterns made by man, machinery and nature on the land.
