Born in Bathgate and raised in Falkirk, I later studied at the Scottish College of Textiles, earning a BA(Hons) Printed Textile Design). After working in the creative industries for several years, I became a full-time artist 15 years ago—though I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t creating!
I love painting Scotland’s villages, cities, and even the occasional red deer My palette ranges from bright and bold to soft and subdued, allowing color to flow naturally. I build my paintings through layers of paint, inks, charcoals and pastels, creating depth and texture. Using both photographs and memories, I paint entirely from my studio, bringing scenes to life with a mix of observation and imagination.
People often tell me that my work takes them back to a place, a time,or a memory—and that’s exactly what I hope to give the viewer: a sense of connection and a magical moment when they look at my paintings.
Nikki works from her studio in Falkirk.
