Artist - Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith is a Landscape artist based in Milngavie, Glasgow. Stephen graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1992 and has continued to produce his own work whilst also spending most of his career teaching. He is currently the principal teacher of Art at Boclair Academy in Bearsden.
Stephen is an Artist Member of the Paisley Art Institute, and has exhibited and sold work through a number of duo and group exhibitions including, RSW, PAI, RGI, Society of Scottish Artist and Aberdeen Artist Society’s annual exhibitions and a number of Scotland’s independent galleries around the country.
Stephen’s work is primarily concerned with light and colour and the impact it has on the landscape. He aims to create atmosphere in his work through colour, mark making, texture and composition. Stephen will sketch outdoors and take photographs for reference, before returning to his studio to paint. He uses mixed media, acrylic and oil paint.
Stephen is inspired by the wild elements but also peacefulness of the Scottish landscapes.
