Lorna is both a visual artist and surface pattern designer. She graduated from the Glasgow School of Art and recently gained both an MA in Art Practice and a PGCE from Glyndwr University in Wrexham.
Pattern has been the foundation for her art practice for many years. Brought up in Scotland, she now lives and works in North Wales, with her painter husband, two children and a scatty spaniel. She is passionate about history and, in normal times she scours the many national trust properties, museums and galleries hunting down inspiration. However, as trips out have been more limited, during the pandemic she has studied Surface Pattern Design, on-line, and now, bringing all of the strands of her practice together pattern has been the focus of her practice in all its forms. This has resulted in an explosion of pattern and colour both online and in paint. She was recently artist in residence for 4 months, in the Maker Space at Ty Pawb in Wrexham, the area’s top arts venue, resulting in a substantial body of new work, a spectrum ranging from from hand made wallpaper to small intimate canvases.
